Documenting conditions throughout the journey

Assessing a shipment involves both its transport conditions and the evidence behind them. Monitoring, a documented chain of custody and contingency procedures support that assessment.

Each vehicle logs temperature and GPS position from pickup to delivery. If conditions are at risk, an alert goes out immediately — and the full record is available to your quality team.

The vehicle and its transport records

Refrigerated transport covers +2 °C to +8 °C, with ambient-controlled and frozen transport available on request. State the required range when discussing your shipment so that the conversation addresses the specific conditions needed for the goods being carried.

Vehicles and containers undergo temperature mapping and validation regularly. Temperature and GPS position are captured during transport, with temperature recorded every minute. This allows an assessment of conditions to refer to the documented course of the journey, from collection through to delivery.

Evidence for your quality team

The documented chain of custody begins at the customer's dock. Your quality team has access to the transport record and can use the documentation of conditions during carriage. Include questions about these records and deviation reporting when discussing the shipment.

The chart on this page is an illustrative record explaining the monitoring concept. It does not document a particular shipment or replace that shipment's actual records. Assessments should refer to the documentation provided for the relevant transport rather than treating the illustration as measured results.

Responding when conditions are at risk

An automated alert is raised immediately when transport conditions are at risk. Documented contingency arrangements include backup cooling and alternative routing. Monitoring and contingency planning therefore address both observing the journey and taking action when a problem arises during carriage.

Deviations are logged, investigated and included in reports. The journey and its documented events are therefore relevant to your quality team's review. Discuss questions about contingency procedures alongside temperature requirements and documentation before handing the shipment over for transport.
